Running Press Submissions Guidelines
Children's Proposals
Please Note: We are not accepting unsolicited children’s submissions at this time.
General Audience (All Ages) Proposals
For our general-interest lists (Running Press & Courage Books), we specialize in publishing illustrated nonfiction. We very rarely publish any new fiction or poetry and are not seeking submissions in those categories at this time.
We also do not accept proposals for Miniature Editions™ of any kind.
To submit a proposal for an appropriate work of nonfiction, please send a query letter accompanied by a brief outline or table of contents to the address below.
How to Submit Your Proposal
When submitting a proposal to Running Press, please note:
- We do not accept submissions or query letters via e-mail.
- We are not responsible for materials sent with your proposal that become lost or damaged.
- Please do not send original photographs, slides, or artwork, one-of-a-kind dummies or mock-ups, or irreplaceable items of any kind with your proposal. Running Press is not responsible for the return of such materials.
- Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) with your submission so that we may send you a reply.
- If you send materials you would like us to return to you, we ask that you enclose sufficient return postage. Once again, please do not send any original or irreplaceable materials-we receive dozens of submissions each week and cannot guarantee the return of materials, even when postage is provided.
- We try to respond to all submissions within six to eight weeks.
